I had a little something sitting from a couple weeks ago about Brett Favre, but I was getting sick of all of it even then. He comes across like a dork but he's been there since the first game I remember watching:

I was nine in my grandparents' living room, and he's been a lot of fun to watch at different times since then, too. I don't think he's really in the argument to be the best quarterback ever, but he was the most durable and maybe toughest, and he had a strong arm and a lot of great highlights. Barry Sanders was always my favorite to watch, but I've been lucky to see Brett on my team. And from the small understanding I have of these careers, coming across poorly doesn't matter at all when you're staring down that kind of permanent change in life. So he sounds selfish, I don't know which athletes are bullies or who cheats on his wife and I don't watch sports to moralize about these guys.
So that's in defense of him, but I have to agree with the Packers mostly too. Last season, especially the first half, was so much fun, and Brett's revival was a big part of it. There were so many parts, like Johnny Jolly knocking down passes at the line and the first good special teams coverage in years. Probably most of all, it took me a few weeks to realize you didn't sit waiting for the defense to give up the big gain that would lead Favre to continually force things on the other end. 1998-2006 Packer defense, Rest In Pieces. That 2007 team probably peaked a little early but so much of that growth was unexpected for almost everyone.
There are a lot of good things going on there, and while Aaron Rodgers hasn't proven anything yet, I'm not one of the guys putting in 70+ hours a week year-round with all the resources and relevant experience. There's a worst-case scenario where Rodgers sucks or gets hurt and Favre wins three Super Bowls for someone else. But a couple years ago I was pretty sure I'd be sitting through some bad years after Favre retired, maybe even moving up a little from 8,000 some on the season ticket waiting list, and Thompson and McCarthy have turned things around in a few ways.
One last thing I have to mention about it, from some of the national reports you might be led to assume that there are widespread riots and fires around here and it's not like that at all. The segment of fans supporting Brett over the team is pretty small and life goes on.
So would you rather have a Scooby or a Digi Snack? Digi Snack yeah! Right? Well I'm not going to cram Ruler Zig Zag Zig Allah under all this so Bobby gets his own post.
